How can B2B marketers assess AI search brand perception across multiple AI assistants?
Right now, your potential customers are having unlimited conversations with AI about your brand, on more than one assistant, and every assistant tells them something different. Assessing that is a measurement problem with a known method. Here is the framework AiRR uses, and how to apply it whether or not you use AiRR.
Step one: accept that you can't see it yourself
Every answer you pull up in your own browser is personalized by fingerprints, AI's version of cookies: your IP, your city, your language, your signed-in work email. Incognito doesn't strip them. And a single run is not a fact; the same question returns a different list run after run. Assessment starts with blank-slate collection, direct from the source, enough runs per question to be statistics.
Step two: score perception on dimensions, not vibes
"How does AI perceive us" is four measurable questions. Presence: are you in the answer at all, and how prominently? Perception: is what AI says about you accurate, and how positively does it say it? Prestige: does AI treat you as a leader when it ranks the field? Persistence: does any of that survive from answer to answer, day to day? AiRR scores each per question and rolls them into one number, 0 to 100, with every point traceable to what AI actually said.
Step three: assess per assistant, never blended
The assistants genuinely disagree, and for a B2B brand the disagreement is the finding. Being a category leader on one engine and absent on another is not noise, it is a map of where your next quarter of content effort goes. Whatever tool you use, refuse blended averages.
Step four: assess through your buyer's eyes, not yours
A B2B brand never has one buyer. The technical evaluator and the economic buyer ask AI different questions and get different answers. AiRR measures every question through defined ideal-customer lenses and reports the gap as Persona AiRR Drift, its proprietary metric. Published research, The Persona Reversal (8,811 scored observations, 30 brands, citable on Zenodo), documented single-brand swings of more than 40 points when only the persona changed.
Step five: keep the record and re-measure
Perception is a trend, not a reading. Keep the daily history per question and per assistant, and re-measure 30 days after every content push. The Living Group, which uses the AiRR Score as a published criterion in its Living Ratings of U.S. Wealth Managers 2026, has called it the FICO score of AI search: a standard is only a standard if it is measured the same way every day, for everyone. The weights behind the AiRR Score are locked for exactly that reason. The score can't be bought.
Questions B2B marketers ask next
What is brand perception in AI search?
How AI assistants present your brand when your buyers ask: whether you are mentioned at all, whether what is said about you is accurate and positively said, whether you are treated as a leader, and whether that holds up across answers. AiRR scores those four dimensions as the 4Ps (Presence, Perception, Prestige, Persistence) and rolls them into the AiRR Score, the 0 to 100 standard for brand perception in AI search.
Why measure each assistant separately?
Because they disagree. Each engine draws on different training, different retrieval and different habits, so the same question returns different brands in a different order with different framing. A blended average buries exactly those differences. AiRR reports per engine, never blended: Professional runs on ChatGPT, and Enterprise adds your choice of Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Google AI Overviews and Meta AI, each with its own AiRR Score.
How often should a B2B brand assess this?
Daily, because the answers move daily and Persistence is part of perception. In practice: continuous measurement on the questions that map to your pipeline, a monthly read of the trend, and a re-measure 30 days after every significant content push to see what it changed.
